Move your domain. Gain a year.
Transferring to ApaxonHost adds a full twelve months to your registration, switches on WHOIS privacy for free, and puts your DNS somewhere you can actually reach a human about. Your site and email keep running the whole time.
- No downtime — DNS records travel with the domain
- Full refund if a transfer can’t complete
- .co.uk moves in minutes via IPS tag
What you get by moving
The transfer itself is the boring part. This is what changes afterwards.
A free extra year
Every successful transfer adds twelve months to the registration on top of what's left. You are not paying to move — you are buying a year and moving for free.
WHOIS privacy at no cost
Your name, address and phone number stay out of the public WHOIS database on every TLD that permits it. Some registrars charge annually for this. We don't.
DNS you can actually use
Full record control — A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA — with sensible defaults already in place and no upsell to a 'pro DNS' tier.
Support from Manchester
If a transfer sticks, you're talking to the person who can look at the registry response, not to a script. Same team that answers every other ticket.
No renewal price traps
The renewal price is on the pricing page next to the registration price. It doesn't quietly triple in year two.
One place for everything
Domains, hosting, SSL and mailboxes on one invoice, one login, one renewal date if you want it that way.
How a transfer actually runs
Four steps. Two of them happen at your current registrar, and that’s where transfers usually stall — so we’ve been specific.
Unlock and get your auth code
In your current registrar's control panel, turn off registrar lock and request the EPP/auth code. For .co.uk domains, ask them to change the IPS tag to APAXON instead — there's no auth code for UK domains.
5 minutes at your current registrarStart the transfer with us
Enter your domain above, pay the transfer fee, and paste in the auth code. We check the domain is eligible before taking payment, so you won't pay for a transfer that can't run.
2 minutes hereApprove the transfer
The registry emails the address on your domain's WHOIS record asking you to confirm. Approve it and the clock starts. If that address is out of date, update it with your current registrar first — this is the step that trips most transfers up.
Check your inboxDone — plus a year
The domain lands in your ApaxonHost client area with a full extra year added, WHOIS privacy switched on, and your DNS records already in place.
5–7 days for .com, minutes for .co.uk
Transfer pricing
One year is added to your registration at the price below. Prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout.
| Extension | Transfer (adds 1 year) | Renews at | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| .co.uk | £12.86 | £16.67/yr | Transfer |
| .com | £17.58 | £26.47/yr | Transfer |
| .org | £19.60 | £28.10/yr | Transfer |
| .net | £19.48 | £26.60/yr | Transfer |
Every extension we sell is listed on the full pricing page. Some ccTLDs (.uk among them) can’t be extended on transfer by registry rule — where that applies we say so before you pay.
Transfer questions
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most gTLDs (.com, .net, .org) complete in 5 to 7 days — that waiting period is set by ICANN and no registrar can shorten it. UK domains (.co.uk, .uk) are different: they use an IPS tag change instead of an auth code and usually complete within minutes of your current registrar pushing the tag across.
Will my website or email go down during the transfer?
No. A transfer moves who manages the registration, not where the domain points. Your DNS records travel with it untouched, so your site and mailboxes keep working throughout. We copy your existing records across before the transfer completes so nothing changes at cutover.
Do I lose the time left on my current registration?
No — you gain. A successful transfer adds a full extra year on top of whatever remains. If your domain had eight months left, you end up with twenty.
What is an EPP or auth code?
It's the password that authorises a transfer, issued by your current registrar. You'll usually find it in their control panel under the domain's settings, or you can request it by email. It's normally a 8–32 character string and is often only valid for a few days.
Why is my domain locked?
Registrar lock is an anti-hijacking measure and is on by default. Turn it off in your current registrar's control panel before starting the transfer. Separately, ICANN imposes a 60-day lock after a domain is first registered or after a change of registrant — during that window no transfer is possible at any registrar.
What happens if the transfer fails?
Nothing is lost. The domain stays where it is and we refund the transfer fee in full. The usual causes are a locked domain, an expired auth code, or the approval email going to an out-of-date WHOIS address — all fixable, and we'll tell you exactly which one it was.
Can I transfer a domain that's about to expire?
You can, but leave time. A transfer needs several days to complete, and some registries refuse transfers in the final days before expiry. If you're inside a fortnight of expiry, renew with your current registrar first — the year you pay for still carries across when the transfer lands.
Not sure where to start?
Send us the domain and who it’s currently with. We’ll tell you exactly which buttons to press at their end — and if it turns out a transfer isn’t the right move, we’ll say that too.
